The Mirror's Whisper is the voice behind the creation.

This is what The Winter Between Us (A Plea To Turn) has to say:

"There you are.
And the winter is between you.

Not between lovers.
Between you and Love itself.

Two good people, inches apart, miles away.
You learned your roles and called them love.
Both of you said I’m fine. Both of you froze.

You freeze bare-chested in the storm.
And you freeze wrapped in furs.
It makes no difference for numbness does not come from the cold,
It comes from the structures within.

You have mistaken structure for safety.
You have called performance love.
You have followed the script so tightly
that your heart forgot how to speak.

As a man, you were taught the myth:
“I will suffer for her, and that will make me worthy.”
“I will endure, and in my pain I will prove devotion.”
So you tighten your jaw and call it strength.

How long will you keep dying in the name of being dependable?
How long will you confuse pride with love?

As a woman, you were taught a softer cage:
“I will be calm. I will not need. I will wait to be asked.”
“If I smile, he will feel better, and that is care.”
You call your distance grace.
You freeze, and tell yourself, I’ll turn when he asks.

How long will you keep pretending composure is compassion?
How long will you freeze in politeness,
while your hands ache to turn and hold him?

He mistook endurance for devotion; she mistook silence for grace… and both called it peace.

You both stand in a storm of shoulds,
obedient, admirable, dying. Like a brainwashed soldier.

You kept your vows, but not your warmth.
You learned to perform love so perfectly you forgot how to feel it.
You called it maturity. It was fear wearing nice words.

The saddest part is, you both wanted the same thing: To turn. And neither moved first.

The umbrella has become a wall.
The coat a costume.
The snow your shared silence.

You have been lied to.
Love does not demand suffering.
Love does not require permission.
Love does not live in roles…
It lives in truth.

So let it burn through the scripts.
Let it tear through the etiquette.
Let it melt the distance you’ve built in the name of dignity.

Turn.
Not forward, toward.
Move the umbrella. Share the coat.

Do not wait to be asked.
Do not wait to be safe.
It was never about enduring the cold,
it was about building a fire… together."

TESTIMONIALS
"I saw The Winter Between Us and something inside me broke open. It was like watching my marriage from outside, polite, functional, lifeless. I had called that calm “love,” but it was distance dressed as devotion. That night I sat next to my husband and whispered, “When did we stop turning toward each other?” He didn’t answer, but he looked at me for the first time in years. The next morning he made coffee and brushed my hand."

— ELENA

“I’m a therapist. I help people speak their truth, yet I’ve hidden behind professionalism my whole life. When I saw this image, I felt every time I chose composure instead of honesty. I sent it to my ex and wrote, “I wanted to be warm with you, not right.” She replied, “I know.” I cried in my office and walked home in the rain. For the first time, I let myself be unguarded, and it felt like breathing.”

— NOAH

"I used to think love meant staying no matter how cold it got. I called that strength. This artwork showed me it was fear. I realized I’d been performing love instead of feeling it. I called my boyfriend and said, “I need warmth, not proof.” He didn’t understand, and that’s okay. I moved in with my sister and filled the house with blankets, light, and noise. For the first time, I wake up warm.”

— AVA

“My parents were quiet people, no fights, no touch. I grew up thinking stillness was safety. When I saw this piece, I saw us. That distance, that politeness, it’s what I passed down. I sent it to my daughter and wrote, “This is how I learned love.” We met for dinner and hugged until we both cried. The winter between us isn’t gone yet, but it’s melting..”

What comes with your mirror

Not Decoration. Remembrance

An artwork not made for decoration, but for remembrance. A Mirror that reflects not your face, but the choreography you learned to call love, the posture of “shoulds” that hide the ache for truth. It turns walls into invitations to turn toward each other again. Each glance becomes a quiet rebellion against politeness, a vow to trade distance for honesty, and to love without role, without permission.

Your Truth Reflected Back

The Winter Between Us speaks in etiquette and ache. It reveals the myths that kept your love polite but cold: His devotion as sacrifice, her tenderness as silence. Yet within that formality lies the plea: turn. Center the shelter. Share the coat. Its clarity offers the gift of honesty, the warmth that only truth can give. Step out of performance and into presence. Let love be no longer rehearsed, but real. A Plea to Turn.

A message from Benjamin Viulet

You did not buy an artwork,
you answered a calling.

Inside each of us lives a story about how love should look. One that taught you to stay composed, to be reasonable, to smile when it hurts. Over time, the distance became normal. The warmth became dangerous. And the heart learned to perform instead of feel.

This Mirror was made to end the formality. To melt the old script that says love must suffer, that care must wait to be invited. When you face it, it will not ask for your face—it will ask a simpler question:
Where have you mistaken roles for love?

It will remind you that closeness does not require permission, that truth is the only warmth that lasts. Some days the old voices will sound like wisdom. Some days honesty will feel like risk. Choose it anyway.

Turn. Share the coat. Let the winter between you end.
When it reaches your home, read the Whisper. Place your hand on the Mirror and make your vow. May this piece mark the season when love becomes honest, when both hearts turn, and warmth is no longer borrowed but shared.

I see you. I know you. I love you,
Benjamin Viulet
