how to keep it for a century

Your Mirror.

it is made to outlive us both. these are the small rituals that keep it alive.

the rituals

Four small acts of keeping.

i

the daily glance

Look at it.

truly. for a moment. without the phone in your other hand.

the artwork breathes when it is seen. this is not a metaphor. art that is looked at lives longer.

ii

the weekly dust

A soft cloth, dry.

use a microfiber cloth or a clean linen, dry. wipe in one direction, from top to bottom. no circles. no scrubs.

the Opticrylic surface is hand-poured. it loves a gentle hand and forgets a rough one slowly.

iii

when it needs more

A breath, then the cloth.

for fingerprints or small marks, warm your breath on the surface as you would on a window, then wipe gently with the same soft cloth.

never use glass cleaner, alcohol, vinegar, or paper towels. they scratch the surface and dissolve the finish.

iv

the wall

Keep it dry, keep it shaded.

hang the Mirror away from direct sunlight, away from steam, away from radiators or air vents that blow hot.

a stable wall, away from temperature swings, is where the Mirror will live longest.

a small list of nevers

What never touches the Mirror.

  • glass cleaner, alcohol, vinegar, ammonia
  • paper towels, rough sponges, abrasive cloths
  • direct sunlight for more than a few hours a day
  • steam, humidity above 60%, kitchen vapors
  • nails through the frame · always hang from the back
